Body

Summary

To help reduce potential OneNote sync issues after the username change, we recommend exporting and reconnecting any notebooks you would like to preserve or reconnect to your updated account.

Step-by-Step

  1. In the Desktop app, open the notebook you would like to export in OneNote.
  2. Select File > Export.
  3. Under Export Current, select Notebook.
  4. Choose OneNote Package (*.onepkg), then click Export.
  5. Save the file to your local computer.

After the Username Change Reopen the Notebook Locally

  1. In OneNote, select File > Open.
  2. Under Other Locations, choose This PC.
  3. Browse to and open the exported notebook package from your computer.
  4. If prompted that the notebook name already exists, enter a different name.

Move the Notebook to Your New OneDrive Account

  1. Select File > Share.
  2. Choose OneDrive.
  3. Verify you are selecting your OneDrive account associated with your new username.
  4. Enter a notebook name and click Move.
  5. The notebook should now sync to your updated OneDrive account.
  6. You can verify the notebook appears correctly by opening it from OneNote Online or your OneDrive web portal.

Repeat for Additional Notebooks

Repeat the above steps for any other notebooks you would like to reconnect to your updated account.

Before removing old notebooks, verify:

  • All notebook sections and pages are present
  • The latest content has synced successfully
  • No information is missing

Additional Information

Once you confirm the notebooks are syncing correctly:

  • Close the original notebooks
  • Close any temporary local notebook copies
  • Reopen the notebooks directly from your OneDrive account
