Summary
Need help navigating Destiny? Destiny is our resource manager for the district, where we keep a log of all devices (and books). Destiny is what we use to check out district devices to patrons.
After logging into Destiny, ensure the correct school displays in the upper left corner, and that the Back Office option is selected from the drop down menu in the upper right corner.
Navigation
This tab allows you to check out a device to a patron, turning the status of the device from Available to either Unavailable or In Use.
IMPORTANT TO FOLLOW: If there is a non-district patron who needs a device, like an Intern, you will check out the device to their Supervisor and select Add Note. This note will specify who has the device (name of the Intern). Example: Checked out this device to [Supervisor] for Intern [John Smith].
- Correct building is displayed
- Back Office option is selected
- Navigate to Check Out/Check Out Items
- Search patron by Name, Employee ID #, etc.
- If needed, scroll to find the correct Patron after selecting Go or pressing the Enter key to search.
- Once you have selected the Patron, scan the barcode on the back of the device. If it will not scan, you will need to type in the Asset Tag found below the barcode (starts with FY or G) in to the search bar and hit the Enter key.
- Once the barcode was scanned, or Asset Tag was typed in to the search bar, the device will be listed below the field Items Out.
- If there is a reason to add a note (either for the device or patron), you will select the Asset Tag highlighted in blue under Resource Name.
- This will populate the screen with all information pertaining to the device. Select Add Note and then hit Save Note once you have typed in the box.

When a device is returned, this tab allows you to check in the device, putting it back into the system. This creates a record showing this patron turned the device back in and turns the device status back to Available. If there is a note attached to the device relating to the person turning it in, you can now delete the note so it won't impede on future check outs.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: It matters to ensure the patron turning the device in matches the patron populated on the screen after scanning/typing the barcode. If the patrons do not match, the patron that turned the device in is still responsible for the device and any fees that may apply. If the patron turning the device in is a non-district employee, the patron populated on the screen after scanning/typing the barcode will not match. This is where the Add Note comes in handy, so that you can verify the device was checked out for that non-district employee.
- Navigate to Check In/Check In Items
- Scan the barcode on the back of the device, or type in the Asset Tag found underneath the barcode starting with an FY or G.
- Ensure the Patron populated was the owner of the device. If the owner of the device matches, you have the option to print receipt.
- If there is a note attached to this device, a note icon will appear next to the Asset Tag. To view the note, select the Asset Tag highlighted in blue.

This tab allows you to renew an already checked out device to a patron.
- Navigate to the Renew tab.
- Scan the barcode or type in the device Asset Tag found underneath the barcode, starting with an FY or G.
- If the Due Date is not automatically set for the current school year, select Change Date and select the end of the school years date.

This tab allows you to add Fines to a particular patron.
- Navigate to the Fines tab
- Search the Patron and select the Patron
- Select Add Fine
- Fill out the necessary information
- Select the option for a receipt
- Save
